Antiparasitic Collar Scalibor has a repellent effect (antialimentation) for 12 months for sandflies (Phlebotomus perniciosus) and for 6 months for culicid mosquitoes of the Culex pipiens complex. It also prevents tick infestations for 6 months and fleas for 4 months.
The repellent effect of Scalibor has been demonstrated against Phlebotomus perniciosus, transmission vector of Leismania infantum. Therefore, Scalibor can be considered as part of a program for the prevention of Leishmania infantum infection.
The collar begins to be effective a week after its placement in the dog.
Occasional contact with water does not reduce the effectiveness of the collar during the first 6 months. However, from 6 to 12 months, the effectiveness in contact with water has not been proven. Nor has the effect of shampooing on the duration of efficacy been evaluated.
It is recommended to adjust the collar, loosely, leaving a space of 2 fingers between the neck of your dog and the collar. Cut the excess collar, leaving 5 cm behind the pin.
Before putting the collar, the dust should be removed with a paper towel. Also, to be more effective, it is recommended to clean the collar with a damp cloth once a month. In some cases the collar has produced allergy in some dogs, if it is the case of your dog simply remove the collar, wash the affected area and the symptoms that could show disappear immediately.
