Composition per ml:
The liquid medicine is a clear to slightly cloudy and light yellow to light brown.
Chlorhexidine digluconate 20 mg (equivalent to 1126 mg chlorhexidine) miconazole nitrate 20 mg (equivalent to 17.37 mg miconazole).
Excipients: methylchloroisothiazolinone 0.0075 mg, 0.0025 mg Methylisothiazolinone.
Interactions and incompatibilities
None known.
Indications and species of destination
Dogs: For the treatment and control of seborrhoeic dermatitis associated with Staphylococcus intermedius and Malassezia pachydermatis.
Cats: As an aid in the treatment of ringworm due to Microsporum canis with griseofulvin.
Contraindications
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substances, to any of the excipients or adjuvants.
Side Effects
In exceptional cases, a dog or cat with atopy with allergic skin disease can develop or pruritic erythematous reaction after treatment.
In very rare circumstances, both dogs and cats can develop a skin reaction (itching, redness) after treatment.
Route of administration
Topical.
Posology
Dogs: As a general rule, should the animal shampooing twice weekly until symptoms subside, then weekly, or as needed, to keep the condition under control.
Cats: Shampoo the animal twice a week for the minimum period recommended by the vet until brushing the coat is negative for growing M. canis, whichever is the longest. The maximum duration of the treatment period should not exceed 16 weeks. You should consult your veterinarian if necessary shearing on the cat's fur before treatment.
• Wet the animal completely with clean water and apply and massage the Malaseb ® Shampoo for dogs and cats, at various points in his fur. Use enough shampoo to lather on the coat and skin. Make sure the shampoo is applied around the lips, under the tail and between the toes of the hind legs. Let the animal remains in place for 10 minutes, and then proceed to clarify with clean water and allow to dry naturally in a warm location and no drafts.
• The bottle of 250 ml, for example, approximately 8-16 treatments provides for a dog of 15 kg, or 5-10 treatments for a 25 kg dog, cat or 25 treatments depending on the thickness of the coat.
Special precautions
Special precautions for use in animals: For external use only. In case of accidental contact with eyes, proceed to wash them with water. Do not allow the animal to lick during shampooing and rinsing, or before it has dried. Try to avoid the animal inhaling the drug or enter it in the snout or mouth during shampooing. Puppies and kittens should not come into contact with lactating females after treatment until their fur is completely dry.
Precautions to be taken by the person administering the medicinal product to animals: If hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine, miconazole or any of the excipients, use the drug with caution. This medicine may cause eye irritation. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of accidental contact with eyes, proceed to wash them with water. If irritation persists contact your doctor. Avoid excessive handling and petting the animal immediately after treatment. Ringworm in cats is infectious to humans and so it is advisable to wear gloves and cover your arms when you wash your hair short or cat. When a cat is washed with shampoo, to avoid prolonged contact with the shampoo, proceed to wash and dry hands thoroughly. No scrubbing.
