Administer 5 to 15 grams per day, depending on life stage and health status.
Make sure he eats all the food.
Always give fresh water.
Diet transition
When switching your bird to a new food, it is important to do so gradually over several days. If the bird already follows a seed-based diet, mix part of the previous food with Beaphar XtraVital Exotic Birds for a few days to give it time to adapt to the new food. Some birds do not need an adaptation period and easily accept the new food.
On the other hand, if you are changing your bird from a pellet diet to a seed-based diet, it may be necessary to do so for several weeks to ensure that the bird accepts the new type of food. If you are unsure how to do this, follow the transition schedule below as a guide.
The daily amount of Beaphar XtraVital Exotic Birds that you should give to the bird depends on its age, size and state of health. The information below is indicative, so feed quantities may need to be adjusted to the bird's needs.
Transition program
• First week: Feed approximately 25% Beaphar XtraVital mixed with approximately 75% of your current seed-based food.
• Second week: Feed approximately 50% Beaphar XtraVital mixed with approximately 50% of your current seed-based food.
• Third week: Feed approximately 75% Beaphar XtraVital mixed with approximately 25% of your current seed-based food.
• Fourth week: If the bird eats Beaphar XtraVital well, you can stop mixing it with the seed-based food.
For some birds it may be necessary to continue the transition process for a longer period of time. Always make fresh water available.

Beaphar has been passionate about pets for more than 70 years. During this time, we have developed, manufactured and marketed pharmaceuticals, healthcare products and super premium complete foods to help improve the lives of all types of pets. We are proud of this heritage and the high quality, extensive range of products that we now offer to pet owners all over the world.
Our History - where it all began
Beaphar was founded in 1942 by the man after whom the company is named: Bernard Aa (Phar). The company was originally set up to manufacture easy-to-cook five minute puddings and later made chocolate sprinkles for the army. With Grandfather Aa’s background as a miller and his passion for pets, it wasn’t long before Beaphar began developing homeopathic products for dogs and cats.
The 1950’s to 1970’s saw a period of growth for Beaphar. During this time, we produced our first veterinary product, Staupecid, followed by increased development and production of multiple types of medicines and care products for pets. Under the direction of J. Henk Aa the company embarked on a policy of expansion, which led to the takeover of “Geco” and the establishment of Beaphar GmbH in 1974. Following this initial expansion, Beaphar bought Koninklijke Maatschappij Draisma van Valkenburg, a manufacturer who specializes in calcium and mineral preparations for dogs and cats as well as Kappelle who specialized in bird feeds.
1979 marked the start of an exciting new area for Beaphar including the creation of our own R&D department complete with laboratory. This allowed the company to take a big step forward into the world of veterinary medicine and later led to production of our first dog and flea collar in 1983. Further takeovers happened between 1986 and 1989 with Rouppe van der Voort and Sabri Pet Supplies joining the Beaphar family. These two companies specialized in 404 bird sprays and dental care dog products respectively, which further added to Beaphar’s wide range of products available for pets.
A unique moment in the history of Beaphar arose in 1993 when, after eight years of case assessment, flea drops were registered. Beaphar was one of the very first companies to have this registration and what followed in 1994 was our largest takeover to date. This involved the takeover of the British firm Sherleys, a subsidiary of the Swiss chemical and pharmaceutical giant Ciba Geigy (Novartis). This led to another important takeover in 2007 of British company Sinclair Animal and Household Care Limited, a manufacturer of medicines for pets and producer of a complete range of aquatic products: fish foods, water treatments and medicines. Both sales teams (Sinclair and Beaphar UK) were merged and became the biggest UK sales force in the pet market.
In 2009, Beaphar UK won ‘Manufacturer of the Year’; further establishing themselves as one of the main manufacturers within the pet care market. Today, Beaphar is established across multiple territories and is one of the leading Pet Manufacturers.
We believe pets deserve the very best and to that end, Beaphar aims to be the best we can be. 90% of Beaphar employees have pets at home so can truly relate to the emotional bond between pet and owner.
To provide products of the highest quality at affordable prices, that improve or enhance the well-being of pets. To achieve this, Beaphar manufactures products of the highest quality, hires employees with passion and ability and ensures the most stringent standards are continually met.
Each year, in our factories (three in the Netherlands and one in the UK), we produce over 12 million flea collars, 6 million flea drop vials, 0.5 million bottles of shampoo and 166 tonnes of fish flake. Beaphar wants to be sure that retailers, pet owners and pets receive healthcare products that are of the highest possible quality so we use only high quality ingredients, and our rigorous quality control procedures ensure product and service excellence.
Our production facilities are authorised to manufacture veterinary medicines and our quality control procedures are of the highest standards. To guarantee this, Beaphar products are produced under strict conditions; our manufacturing processes adhere to the principles of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) to ensure that we produce only good quality medicines, safeguarding the health of the pets that receive them. In order to achieve GMP status, the Beaphar production plants are inspected by the Minstry of Public Health in Holland and the Veterinary Medicines Directive in the UK. Quality control procedures are in place for raw materials through to the finished products leaving the factory for distribution.
We are confident that pet shops, pet owners and their pets receive health care products that are of the highest possible quality. GMP is something that everyone at Beaphar takes very seriously and adheres to on a daily basis. It’s important to us that every process taking place is entirely demonstrable and verifiable.
