Farm Food HE holistic dog food contains no chemical substances such as: antioxidants, preservatives, colourings, fragrances, taste substances and contains no binders.

Farm Food HE is a premium quality natural dogfood suitable for every breed of dog, irrespective of age and/or performance. Farm Food HE satisfies largely the directives as noted in the nutrient requirements for Dogs of the Commission on Animal Nutrition. Farm Food HE distinguishes itself by the high purity of the raw materials used, resulting in a high biological value of the proteins and a high digestibility (87%).

Farm Food HE distinguishes itself also by the fact that it has been pressed (at max. 75o C) and has not been extruded. The use of a low temperature during production prevents the ingredients from damage or nutrient loss due to excess heating. The constant composition, the high purity of the ingredients and the low production temperature ensures together that the metabolism of the dog is as little as possible charged. Because of this the health of the dog is strongly promoted, which is among other things clearly visible in the quality of the fur and stools.

Farm Food HE contains the correct quantity and proportion of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fats. Farm Food HE also contains a maintenance dosage of Glucosamine and Chondroïtine thus helping to promote supple joints. 

The last couple of years the dogfood-market has been on the move. "Every dog needs his own food" seems to be the major thought. Everything keeps on being renewed and improved. Our domestic dogbreeds may be many and various, they still have at least one thing in common with their ancestor the wolf: their metabolism! In our domestic dogs its function is still the same as it was in primeval times.

In their natural surroundings all kind of wild dogs, from small to tall and from young to old, eat from the same prey according to their need of energy at that moment. Our principle "dogs first" is the basis of the Farm Food Philosophy: one type of food for all dogs regardless of their size and age. In the various stages of their life our dogs need, like their wild relatives, more or less food, but certainly not another food. It is by perfect constitution and high quality that Farm Food HE makes an optimal offer!

As for people and other animals, the rule applies that dogs need to be fed more or less and not different. Why Farm Food HE?

The Benefits of Natural Dog Food

- Farm Food HE does not contain chemical antioxidants nor preservatives
- Because of the high purity of the used raw materials it is unnecessary to add antioxidants or preservatives to Farm Food HE. The only 'disadvantage' of this is that the storage life of our 15kg bags is being limited until six months after production. However: Farm Food HE is available in 4 kilogram oxygen-free packaging (with an oxygen-impermeable laminate) allowing the food to be preserved for up to 18 months. Even after opening Farm Food HE is still fresh for up to 2 months, subject to dry and clean storage.

Farm Food HE is not expanded
To prevent valuable nutrients from being damaged (e.g. fats) and/or lost (e.g. vitamins) Farm Food HE is not being expanded. The ingredients that need expanding (the grains) are being expand beforehand and after this they are processed in the total composition. 

Farm Food HE does not contain thickeners
Thickeners are often added to obtain a more solid pellet. However thickeners have the disadvantage that they bind certain trace-elements in the intestines which makes it impossible to absorb them. Because of this a misbalance in the food can arise which can have a very bad effect on the health of dogs in the long run.

Farm Food HE is meant for all dogs of all ages
Because dogs of different ages and/or under different circumstances do not need another, but more or less of a food that is biologically in balance there is only one kind of Farm Food HE. Quality and digestibility of the ingredients as well as the composition of Farm Food HE is of such kind that puppy- and senior-food is unnecessary, as it is in nature! It will be clear to you that we attach significance to the quality and the purity of the ingredients too prevent the liver from being overburdened. Actually this is the secret of the fact that so many dogs do so very well on Farm Food HE, also in the long run!

Young dogs grow more even
When pups eat Farm Food HE from the beginning they grow much more even without the familiar grow-shocks and -pains. This means that they have a better bone-development and makes that the tendons and muscles can develop more evenly, which makes them more stable. Increasingly we get conformation from breeders that their dogs are always "in balance" during growth. Especially with the bigger breeds this is striking.

The dogs become stronger and more muscular
In their nature dogs are mammal-eaters. This natural feeding-pattern of dogs is taken into account during the development of Farm Food HE. That is why during the preparation of Farm Food HE only meatmeal and fat of mammals (beef) is used instead of poultry (chicken). Because of this the aminoacid-pattern in the food is almost identical to the natural build up of the body. Due to this dogs become more robust and well-muscled. 

Farm Food HE contains no chicken or other poultry
As most chicken or poultry, which is available for consumption, comes from birds that are slaughtered when their growth peaks (birds between 5 and 6 weeks old), the meat contains many naturally occurring growth hormones (these hormones are produced in the chicken’s own hypophysis). Moreover, the cartilage contains much proline. Proline is not an essential amino acid but an imino acid, which adversely affects the functioning of essential amino acids (it is an antagonist). Our more than 30-years experience has taught us that these factors combined are bad for your dog’s overall health. The growth of young dogs and the fertility of females can be particularly affected. These harmful effects occur far less or not at all when the meat is from adult chickens (slaughtered when their egg production declines).

The dogs get more joie de vivre and balanced character
People keep on telling us that their dogs get more joy of living en become more happy after they have switched to Farm Food HE. This is caused by the high quality and pure raw materials that are used. For example: by using high quality (Dutch) beef-protein the aminoacid-need is covered more than enough by a protein-fraction of more than 23%. Considerable less waste material originate from this by which the liver is alleviated. Also the fact that there are no colourings, flavourings nor aromatic substances used in Farm Food HE (because of the negative effect it has on some children) probably contributes to a positive and stabilising effect on the dogs character.

The furs becomes better and more full 
Because of the use of pure beef-fats that are not heated above 90° Celsius, of course filled up with lecithin, the metabolism of dogs is being less burdened. When you also consider the fact that there are no antioxidants added during the production you understand that the skin will not be used as a secreting organ of garbage. These facts together with the high-grade protein quality and the fact that there are no thickeners used make that food-related skin and fur problems are being solved. The colour and structure of de furs become again as they are supposed to be!

Older dogs start their "second youth"
It is striking that lots of Farm Food HE customers report that older dogs become and stay more active and lively than dogs of equal age but on another food. We also receive reports from dog lovers that their dog(s) began their "second youth" after they had switched to Farm Food HE. Farm Food HE gives very good defecation
The dogs that eat Farm Food HE have in general very good defecation. Not coloured weak turds, but beautiful dark droppings. There is relatively little defecation because Farm Food HE contains much energy a kilo with a digestibility of more than 86%.

Feeding advice; Why only one sort of feed for all dogs?

When working with the NRC-norms in the preparation of dogfood the food is suitable for ALL dogs, no matter what age or circumstance. Dogs eat as much as they need to fulfil their NEED OF ENERGY, so when dogs eat a good composed dogfood they automatically get all nutrients in the right quantities and proportions in their system. Young dogs, lactating bitches and dogs that need to perform eat MORE that the average adult dog; that is how they fulfil their total need for different nutrients. The same applies to older dogs that do not have to achieve anything: they eat LESS than the average adult dog. Dogs have very short bowels compared to their body size. That is why the food needs to contain a lot of energy by kilo dry material to prevent the metabolism from being badly influenced by a surplus of encumbrance substances.

The more high-grade fat in the food, the more energy in the dry material of the food. Complete fresh-meat-food (Farm Food Fresh) contains more energy by kilo dry material than Farm Food HE due to the amount of fat.

ALL dry food undergo a certain heating during production (Farm Food HE circa 72° Celsius). Because of this bacteria in the raw material are being destroyed. In spite of the fact that it is never scientifically proved we have the experience that for a good build up and conservation of the intestinal flora these lost bacteria are necessary. This is why we advise so called "fresh meat days". By fresh-meat we mean the deep-frozen complete fresh meat with at least 60% unwashed tripe. (e.g. Farm Food Fresh). This contains all necessary bacteria and bacterial spores. As you would understand it is necessary to give this fresh-meat raw to gain the desired effect. Therefore cooking, heating or defrosting in the microwave is absolutely undesirable! When a dog has had a intestinal-infection and/or antibiotic-cure, it is to recommend to feed him fresh-meat with tripe (Farm Food Fresh: Tripe & Heart Complete) a couple of days. The intestinal flora can restore itself in a natural way. 100 grams of Farm Food HE corresponds with about 200 grams of Farm Food Fresh Complete.

Feeding advise

How much food does one give a day? As much as the dog wants or as much as the owner feels is good for his dog? The experience taught us that not all dogs are able to moderate when they can eat unlimited. Small breeds can usually eat as much as they want during their growing stage, but when they are grown up they can easily grow to fat. Big breeds sometimes grow to fast when they can eat all they want which could cause abnormalities. However when they are grown up their need of feed is usually determined by their need for energy and this depends highly on their performances. At all times: "feed with your eyes" (look at your dogs condition), because there is not one dog equal to the other. The quantities named in the feeding recommendation list are meant as starting-point to determine the need of the dog. Make sure, there is always enough fresh, clean (drinking) water available!

Complete cold-pressed dog food

Farm Food HE does not contain any chemical substances like antioxidants, preservatives, binding agents, colouring agents, and flavourings. On top of this, the ingredients of Farm Food HE have to meet the same quality criteria as products meant for human consumption. 

Farm Food HE is premium food of a very high quality suitable for any dog, regardless of its age and/or performance. It amply meets the requirements as defined in the Nutrients Requirements of Dogs of the Committee of Animal Nutrition.

Farm Food HE distinguishes itself from other brands by the pure and natural origins of the raw materials used in its products, and the resulting high ecological value and excellent digestibility. The animal protein sources in Farm Food HE make up approximately 75% of the total protein contents. Prior to the feed being pressed, the starch in the grains is released, making the grains very easily digestible and able to provide the animal with the necessary carbohydrates and other essential nutrients.

The constant composition, the high purity of the ingredients and the low production temperature make sure the dog’s metabolism is hardly affected. This has a tremendously positive impact on the dog’s health which is clearly reflected in the quality of the skin/coat and its bowel movements.
